Greek potatoes recipe. A tasty alternative to just roast potatoes! Makes your potatoes fluffy on the inside and lightly roasted on the outside, full of Mediterranean flavours.

This recipe for Greek potatoes was given to me by my Auntie who lives in Corfu, Greece. Yiasou, hello Debbie if you are reading this. So, I spent a lot of my childhood going on holiday there. I got to experience first hand the Greek culture. Their traditions, religion, music, wines (those grape vines) and most importantly family and food. But I remember the first time I ever tried these Greek potatoes and…. ‘Oh my word’ so delicious! They are really easy to make and you can even get the kids involved especially when peeling the garlic cloves!
The ingredients to make these Greek potatoes is detailed and explained in the recipe card below.
To Cook
Peel, wash and cut the potatoes into chunky chips/wedges and place into a baking dish.

Pour in 1 glass of water (approx 1/4 of a litre). Cut the lemon in half and squeeze in juice (make sure no stray pips fall in).
I use all the garlic cloves from one bulb as I really like garlic. Some like to use just half the cloves. Split the garlic cloves up, peel them and scatter them around the potatoes in the baking dish.
Pour a generous amount of olive oil over the Greek potatoes and add plenty of oregano, salt and pepper.

Cook in the middle of a medium to high oven on gas mark 5, 180 degrees. For approx 1 and a half hours. A good tip to getting them lightly crispy on the outside is to turn the potatoes occasionally whilst cooking.
What to serve with your Greek potatoes
These Greek potatoes are so tasty and they go with many things! I sometimes will cook chicken breasts with these Greek potatoes. But I prefer to cook a whole chicken. The left overs can be used as a meal the next day. In the picture below I pulled apart some chicken. Sliced up a lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, pear and apple to make a delicious salad. And added some baked feta cheese.
Quick tip. – To bake the feta cheese, place the cheese in foil, sprinkle oregano on top and cover in foil. Bake for approx 10 mins or until it’s squidgy lol (it’s delicious).
